Another Vietnam?

I'm sure you have heard Ted Kennedy making a fool out of himself by comparing the war in Iraq to Vietnam.  He said that "This is Bush's Vietnam".  If Ted Kennedy weren't in office, I would say to brush his words off of your shoulder and carry on.  But he is in office, so what he says does have some substance to it.  Granted, it has the substance of whip cream..you know, a lot of air and nothing more, but a lot of people are backing him in his beliefs.

Truth be known, the war in Iraq is no where near what Vietnam was.  Vietnam lasted a decade and at one point we were losing 500 men a week.  We have barely broken the 500 mark in Iraq and we've been there only a year or so.  An article in Newsweek accurately compared the war in Iraq to Lebanon where Israel plunged into a vacuum of feuding religious factions and was trapped in  a hellhole of bombings and kidnappings.

I'm not so blind to think that the war in Iraq doesn't echo some sentiments of Vietnam.  I can see how those who experienced or lived during the time of Vietnam would have some fear that this, mixed with liberalism and socialism, could turn into another Vietnam.  Although it's a far stretch, I could see how certain people could have that fear.  That's why it's so important right now to elect a president that has shown strength in time of weakness.  A president who has demonstrated courage in the face of terrorism.  To elect a president that was anything else; a president that threw away his medals; a president who protested war along side of Jane Fonda; a president who doesn't know right from wrong because he's flip flopped so much and has been a puppet of the democratic attack machine so long that he is nothing more than a doll in the doll house of liberalism.  To do such a thing would be a tragedy and the end to freedom and democracy as we know it and have known it since it's inception in 1782.

Be a conservationist of American freedom and democracy be voting to re-elect President George Bush.
